Essential Read: First steps for working with dance in museums and heritage sites

Download your resource:

Our first Essential Read resource is designed to provide an overview of things to consider when working with dance and movement in a museum or heritage site. It is intended to support the early stages of a process of dance/heritage partners working together, particularly for collaborators who are new to this, but may provide a few reminders for people who already have some experience.

This resource is free to access but we are asking for a few details from you (in the form on the right) in exchange for the downloadable pdf. It is helpful for our ongoing research to know who is using the information, so that we can develop other materials like this in the future.

How we put this document together

We held four in-person Advocacy Events in 2024 in Ipswich (at Christchurch Mansion, in partnership with DanceEast), Cornwall (at Wheal Martyn Clay Works), Blackpool (Showtown) and London (at Trinity Laban, in partnership with The Horniman Museum and Gardens). We have used the notes and discussions from those sessions and from previous research to inform the resource, also including links to other information available for those who might like more guidance.
