Join us on May 11th from 12-1pm for an online Q&A session to learn more about The Imagination Museum’s first co-commission opportunity.
Supported with funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England, the Horniman Museum and Gardens and Trinity Laban, The Imagination Museum dance and heritage network is pleased to announce a £6,000 co-commission for a London-based dance artist/s to create an original work in response to the collections of the Horniman Museum and Gardens.
Building on a longstanding relationship between the Horniman and Trinity Laban, the first Imagination Museum co-commission offers artists the opportunity to create a new dance work in response to the Horniman’s Nature + Love project, which looks to inspire a greater understanding and appreciation for the world we all share.
At the heart of the co-commission is community collaboration, with the successful artist working closely with adult groups who attend regular sessions at Trinity Laban as collaborators and performers in the work.
Following a creation period from January – March 2027, final performances will take place as part of the Horniman’s Spring Fair on 10 April 2027. Performances are expected to take place outdoors in the Horniman’s newly redeveloped garden spaces, with the potential for additional performances inside the museum.
Full callout information is available online here.
This Zoom session will include:
- an introduction to the Imagination Museum network
- insights into the Nature + Love theme with Peronel Craddock (Director of Content, The Horniman Museum and Gardens)
- and context about the community groups involved in the project with Laura Woods (Programme Manager – Community and Artist Development (Dance) at Trinity Laban)
There will be time to find out more about the application process and ask questions, and the option of staying on the call for a further 30 minutes from 1-1.30pm if you would like to and have additional questions you might like to ask.
The meeting will also be recorded, with permission from participants, and shared on The Imagination Museum website.
