Dancestry was a unique collaboration between Born and Bred Dance Theatre and Saddleworth Museum that used dance to learn about and explore the local history of Saddleworth. We worked with five schools over three months to create dance works with a heritage focus to be performed at Uppermill Civic Hall. Each participating school did their own research for the dance works by visiting Saddleworth Museum and going on a ‘history hike’ around our local landscape. Dance photographer Nicola Selby documented the project with her beautiful photographs, which were displayed in the Saddleworths Museum’s gallery.
