Dancin On Extreme is the latest dance work from Keneish Dance, choreographed by Artistic Director Keisha Grant. This powerful, raw and bold family friendly work is inspired by the harsh, untamed conditions of preparing travel to and through Antarctica, and the human capacity to endure extremes. The performance embodies the spirit of resilience and the courage required to push beyond physical and mental boundaries, echoing the challenges faced by explorers in a quest to understand the most unforgiving environment on Earth. This powerful work channels the raw urgency of climate justice through the body, and raises awareness of Antarctica as a shared responsibility to confront unequal impacts of a world in crisis.
The piece draws upon both movement and polar region narratives to explore how individuals confront limits, embrace adversity and discover strength and vulnerability.

My references to historic narratives lie within the layers of histories stored in the ice itself – how the molecules within Antarctic Ice have circulated the earth and throughout countries for millions of years.

Antarctica is a shared responsibility, survival is everything. ‘Dancing On Extreme’ explores shared humanity, multiple cultures, historic narratives co-existing at the same time.
Research and Development
The early stages of Dancin On Extreme were shaped by conversations with children’s science communicator and author of Antarctica – The Melting Continent, Karen Young, researchers at Scott Polar Research Institute, Neuroscience of Dance and WeTwo Foundation, founded by Dwayne Fields, the first Black Briton to walk to the magnetic North Pole. His journey embodies resilience, courage and determination to go against the status quo – qualities that resonate deeply with the core themes of this work.
The Research and Development was supported using public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
Touring and Availability
Dancin On Extreme is available for core commissioning and programming in 2026 and beyond, suitable for all audiences including families for five years and upwards. The performance resonates especially with the creative and curious.
