Adapting to place - landscape, gardens, public spaces

Surrey Dance 21 Online, via Zoom

Online panel event and Q&A

Whats On

Throughout 2021 and into 2022, there is a campaign taking place in Surrey to draw more attention to the significant impacts that dance and movement can have in our lives, in our families, in our communities, in work, in play, in all spaces and places.

Through the Surrey Dance 21 programme (SD21), and supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, Arts Partnership Surrey hope to provide opportunities for dance professionals in the county and beyond to link up, find out more, try out new ideas and - specifically for those living/working in Surrey - to apply for funding to make their new project ideas a reality from 2022 onwards.

In September 2021, SD21 are launching their professional development offer, and they are starting with the theme ‘Adapting to Place’.

What is it?

A programme of free events taking place online and in person, aimed at providing opportunities for dance/movement professionals and those working in cultural, heritage, arts, community, education, health and wellbeing settings to hear inspiring stories and test out new ways of working together.

Who are these events for?

These events have been designed in response to consultation with dance professionals living/working in Surrey and neighbouring counties but are open to everyone.

Would particularly suit those with an interest in using dance and movement to respond to specific sites, spaces and places, whether you are an artist, practitioner or producer or would like to see your venue brought to life through dance for example.

If you’re living/working in Surrey already, these events could provide a stepping stone to a new idea or collaboration for which you might want to apply for seed funding in 2022. If you don’t live in the area but would like to initiate new links in the county, you could find out a bit more about some of the people working here, or simply join in to find out more about the ‘Adapting to Place’ theme, and other themes later in the year.
