Dancing Museums II - Haunting Newstead Abbey

Opportunities

In advance of being in residence at Newstead Abbey, a stately home in Nottinghamshire, three artists discuss their choreographic research: looking at ghosts and haunted houses as a metaphor for how histories of transatlantic slavery and colonialism haunt the present and exploring fear as an antidote to trauma.

As part of the Dancing Museums II upcoming digital workshop week titled, Acts of Social and Political Change: New Voices hosted by the UK partners, artist Eleanor Sikorski has curated an artist panel with mayfield brooks, Mary Pearson, Seke Chimutengwende with panel facilitation by Season Butler.

Dancing Museums II -The democracy of beings is an action-research project (2018-2021) designed to foster and sustain long-term collaborations between dance organisations, museums, universities and local communities across Europe to develop inspiring and long-lasting arts and cultural programmes.

This event will be hosted over Zoom and streamed live over the Dancing Museums II YouTube channel. If you would like to join the Q&A part of the event a ticket must be booked. No booking necessary to access the event on YouTube, simply follow the link on the date and time of the event.

Tuesday 9th March, 6.30-8.30pm
