Curators tours of exhibitions at Worcester Art Gallery

From the Art Gallery with Love x

Opportunities

Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum are delighted to be commissioning a summer of online artworks and community events following a successful bid for funding from Arts Council England’s emergency response fund. As Worcestershire recovers and moves forward from the pandemic, they believe it is important to provide communities with opportunities for learning, creativity and entertainment. Many continue to rely on technology to engage with the outside world, so the From the Art Gallery with Love project will connect local artists and performers with the public – digitally – to provide learning, creativity and entertainment at home. Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum are determined to offer high quality museum experiences during these challenging times, improve future access for those who may be unable to physically visit their sites, and encourage new and lasting relationships within their creative community.

Call for artists

Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum are connecting creative practitioners with new and existing audiences through four exciting creative commissions based both on their collections, and the County’s response to the pandemic. The project will help them to support a wide range of groups within their community via artworks, activities, discussions, and collaborative art & events.

There are 14 opportunities available for artists, creative practitioners and performers to be involved in From the Art Gallery with Love:

  • 5x small digitally-interactive works.
  • 2x riskier/experimental works.
  • 1x work recording the experiences of isolation in Worcestershire.
  • 6x digital-format performances/works for Museum After Hours events.

For full details of each commission and how to apply, view the artist brief here. The deadline for applications is Thursday 9 July 2020.

Please note: Applications are welcomed from all creative practitioners and performers across all disciplines, but Museums Worcestershire will prioritise those living or working in Worcestershire for this project.
